From the airport to the city
Two airports facilitate air travel in Rome: The airport Rome Ciampino is primarily used by cheap and charter airlines as well as military air traffic. The Leonardo Da Vinci-Airport is located about 30 km southeast of Rome in Fiumicino and serves major airlines. Every half hour the suburban train takes passengers from Leonardo Da Vinici to the main train station (Stazione Termini), the ticket costs 14,- Euro, and the trip takes 30 minutes. The local train goes to the station Tiburtina every 20 minutes, and the ticket costs 8,- Euro. During night time (01.15 – 05.00) a COTRAL bus goes to the train stations Termini and Tiburtina. The Airport-Shuttle takes you from the airport directly to your hotel. A taxi ride from the from the airport to the city is not exactly cheap (starting at 40,- Euro), since traffic in the Eternal City is often disrupted. To call a taxi: 3570 or 4994.
