Fellini’s master piece
Rome offers more than important historical sights: You can live the „dolce vita“ yourself, savouring the Italian zest for life while zipping through the town on a Vespa or sitting on the Spanish Steps with a Campari. Aside from the Capitol, the Forum Romanum, the Via Appia and Castel Sant’ Angelo there are countless other reminders of Rome’s ancient and glorious times. The Vatican, the Sistine Chapel, the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona are only some of the many highlights, not all of them ancient, but each with its own charm and flair. The Trevi Fountain, for example, was already a landmark before Anita Ekberg took a bath in it in Frederico Fellini’s masterpiece „La Dolce Vita“. But the film made it hugely popular. Anita Ekberg would probably be struck down by all the coins that tourists toss into the fountain day and night – after all, every one eventually wants to come back to the Eternal City.
