Forget your odd bits of Italian, in the L’Isola D’Oro only two words are important: “Faccia Lei”, meaning “Do what you want!”. The head chef then puts on the table what everyone wants to eat, but never will. The 30 fish antipasti are simply impossible to manage, even if the entire family clan joins in. And that’s a shame, because the main dishes are delicacies such as shrimp risotto, octopus and other sea dwellers that haven’t been fried for the starters already.
To drink there is excellent wine, and after that you need a break. But don’t go! Make some room for a Sardinian speciality, the Myrtleberry schnapps, and try the heavenly Panna Cotta before being rolled back to your hotel.
Dress code: Although the inhabitants from the upscale Parioli neighbourhood dines here, we recommend trousers with room to grow. Tight waistbands could easily become a liability after this spectacular meal!
