In vino veritas: The Cul de Sac keeps to the old wisdom that the food accompanies the wine and not the other way around. When you enter the small wine shop you will be overwhelmed by the selection. Beware of the long shelves over your head, one false movement and you will have a headache long before you’ve even had the first sip. But don’t worry, the wooden shelves are secured safely, the only loose thing might be your tongue after the odd glass.
You can get wine from any region imaginable, and any year, colour or taste. Dry, fruity, white, from Italy, Austria, or South Africa. You can order snails, or soups, pâtés and oxtail. Even an ordinary plate of Lasagne is possible, but while the food selection is of minor importance, the wine takes centre stage: What you don’t find here you won’t find anywhere.
