Close to the Cathedral, hidden to the hurried visitor, Santa Maria presso San Satiro, often called dimply "San Satiro", is one of the most outstanding renaissance churches in Milano, possibly one of the purest example of renaissance in northern Italy. Entering in the cosy shadow of the Church, you first gain the impression to find in a greek cross shaped building. As a matter of fact the “T” shaped church, misses of the apse, behind the altar, that have been just painted by Bramante, perhaps the most famous Lombard renaissance architect (the one that, among the others, completed Santa Maria alle Grazie, mostly famous for the Last Supper by Leonardo, that anyhow represent another beautiful jewel that shouldn’t be missed, when you visit Milano). Beyond the “false perspective” by Bramante, the church contains other beautiful gems, among the other a polychrome wooden pity dating back to the 16th century.
