Everything is new in Gordon Ramsay’s Verre, the first restaurant the three-starred chef has opened outside of Europe. The cream-coloured ceiling, a lot of glass, silver pillars, a structured white wall and black seating furniture radiate a noble elegance.
The chef is new, too. Scott Price – still in his 20s – came from Ramsay’s Claridge’s in London and he brought his staff, too. A good decision, after all the Verre was awarded as the best restaurant in the Middle East by the magazine Esquire. Price introduced the Chef’s Table which guarantees a perfect view into the kitchen for the guests and acts as a culinary reality-TV. A nine-course menu is served by the chef himself and ranges among the most creative ones in the Arabic region.
“I firmly believe that only the freshest products will reveal superb tastes,” says Price. Without – and this is the second imperative – complicating the dish. Ingeniously simple, simply ingenious.
