The first few seconds decide a new acquaintance. In the case of Kabab-ji, it is a nice encounter; one feels as if at home. The atmosphere: comfortable and trendy at once. The walks are kept in warm orange and red tones, matching the brick wall at the grill.

The cuisine focuses on Lebanese dishes. Restaurant founder Toufic Khoueiri says the usual programme is too boring though; what he really wants is to offer traditional cuisine in a contemporary design. Fast, healthy and fresh are the pillars. Frozen ingredients are a no-go and one can taste this. Mostly it is interesting dishes that open new horizons to flavour explorers. Mouhamara, for instance, is a thick, orange paste with pomegranate, chilli and walnuts. Cheese Fatayer is similar to a pizza with cheese and chilli. Grilled chicken and lamp or very tender veal kebab round it off.
