It's not for nothing that Dubai carries the title „City of Gold“. The trade with the precious noble material is all-pervasive in the city, especially on the Gold Souk.
Armlets are sparkling, necklaces are shimmering and earrings, pendants and rings are glittering here. If you have a closer look you discover the different colour shades of the gold. Traditional jewellery, pieces in modern shapes and custom-built pieces on demand are at choice here – either adorned with brilliants, emeralds or sapphire, if desired.
More than 300 jewellers sell their goods (nothing under 18 carat) at a price per kilo. The jewellery is weighed and paid per gram. Designer pieces have their own prices, however. Like on every other market in Arabian countries bargaining is an integral part of the business procedure. A saving between 20 and 60 per cent in relation to European price tags is no rarity.
