Lost Chambers

While building the hotel Atlantis in 2008 one probably came across seeming relics of the lost city of Atlantis. At least that's what the guests of the five-star-hotel should think when searching for a refreshment, a ray or whatever in the Ambassador Lagoon in 11,5 million litres of water.

As a welcome you get perfectly fashioned hieroglyphics and old ruins – in addition 65,000 fish, 28 dolphins and 21 exhibitions. From whale shark, to tuna fish, parrotfish and red lion fish, you meet everything in the ten-metre-deep aquarium which is nothing for the faint-hearted or kids under ten years.

If you have the necessary wherewithal, you can watch the goings-on from a safe distance: in one of the two three-storey underwater suites. Together with more than 1,500 rooms and a property as large as 64 soccer fields, the hotel mogul Sol Kerzner („One & Only“-Hotels) spent more then one and a half billion dollar on the project. The 77-centimetre-thick panes of the aquarium have probably cost only a fractional amount of this sum.

If you still haven't got enough fish you can try grilled giltheads with broccoli foam and lemon butter in the „Ossiano“. The view on the underwater world is inclusive.
