Desert safari

Towers hundreds of metres high and skyscrapers as far as the eye can see. If you are tired of all this you should take off to the desert in order to regenerate. That works out quite well: thanks to sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum and the two million euros he invested. He's responsible for the 225-square-kilometres large (that's five per cent of the complete surface of Dubai) breeding station of the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve which takes care of endangered species like the East African oryx or the Arabian gazelle. Tourists may only enter particular areas and in a limited number.

But don't worry, the boss raises no objection to a jeep safari – at any time of the day. No matter if it's day or night, or for the the whole day, with the quad, a hummer or whatever: from 50 euros onwards you're in and you can try to improve your „sandboarding“ skills: climbing the dune on one side and down again on the other side. Passing camels, bedouins and desert camps, and arriving in time for barbecue under the starry sky. Enjoy!
