What was architecture in Dubai like in former times? What are the city's cultural treasures and how had life taken place before the oil blessing came? These and many more historical details especially with regard to former sailors, the pearl diving tradition and  architecture are dealt with in the Dubai Heritage Village. Together with the Diving Village and the Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House it makes up an integral part of old Dubai. You find it in Shindigah in Bur Dubai.

You have the impression that the inhabitants are just about to turn around the corner. The 30 houses, all of them rebuilt in the typical Hattas style are located near the Creek mouth. The first room shows the private life back in the days: kitchen, parents' and children's bedroom. The second one reconstructs the social community in the  Majlis, a public meeting point. The third one visualises life in the village. The house is guarded by two round towers which protect the city from external attacks.
