With its height of 828 metres the Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world. In 2004 the construction phase began, and during peek times there up to 12,000 workers, schedulers and architects on-site. They all were responsible for replacing the Taipei Financial Center (nickname Taipei 101) as the highest building in the world. The Burj Khalifa is 163 storeys high. That's also a record. By the way – the height is measured from the lowest point that is accessible to the pedestrians up to the top of the tower (antennas not included).
In the lowest 37 floors you find the world-wide first Armani Hotel. What follows are offices and suites and on floor 122 the At.Mosphere – according to numbers the worldwide highest restaurant. The observation platform with outdoor terrace on level 124 – accessible via elevator with the worldwide longest „journey time“ – only reaches the second place.
Regarding the interior and facilities stainless steel, Venetian stuccoed ceilings and hand-made carpets prove that no expenses were spared. All this comes to a price, of course: a ticket into the khalifa heaven cost 400 AED (around 77 Euro), for 60 minutes. It's worth booking tickets online for a particular date – it reduces the price to a quarter.
