Over the last few years, the city of Bangkok has redefined itself. It has shaken off its Third World image and become a cosmopolitan world city: shopping centres, skyscrapers, nightclubs and luxury hotels define the young Bangkok. Alongside this, Bangkok also retains its fascination with delicious-smelling cook-shops, colourful markets, monks and túk-túks. It is not for nothing that Bangkok is called the city with two faces.
