If you get invited to the Vertigo, you've hit the jackpot – and hopefully there's something more glamorous to wear than your beach wear in your suitcase. Because shorts & co are taboo on the roof of the Banyan Tree Hotels. The restaurant resembles the deck of a ship, and with a height of 170 metres it ranges among the most exclusive al fresco addresses in Bangkok. If you are free from giddiness you should pick a table along the Western railing – there you have the best view on the sunset over the city.
Another highlight: a cocktail (starting from 8 euro) at the “bow”, where you find the Moon Bar. You should make a reservation early enough otherwise you won't get a table. After all, it's well known in Bangkok that a dinner in such an ambience will always stick in one's mind (by the way, the friendly waiters are pleased to take pictures of you).
Other stories revolve around proposals that have been made here – and who could possibly say “no” when the whole city is at your feet.
