The entry area of the hotel is more than simple. Neon green simple. But after the moving stairway the lobby follows – with its 12-metre-high ceiling clad in ivy, coloured in a lustful red and in the middle a huge chandelier.
The Hudson New York on 58th Street close to the Central Park focuses on the clear design by the French Philippe Starcke, the almost mellow playfulness, extreme colours (yellow, green, red) and a confusing mixture of styles (key word: Hudson Bar with furniture from the time of Ludwig XV. and a painting of the Italian-American artists Francesco Clemente). From the Sky Terrace you can see the Hudson River, the private park and the library invite to idle hours whereas the Hudson Hall – modelled on the cafeteria of an Ivy League college – invites to bacchanalian festivities.
The rooms start from 199 dollars per night (Standard Queen, twelve little square metres). If you want more luxury book the penthouse with Starck furniture and Murano chandeliers.
