London has five airports: Heathrow, Gatwick, London City, Luton and Stanstead. Most of the international scheduled flights land at Heathrow Airport, located some 22 kilometres outside of the city. The fastest connection from there to the centre is Heathrow Express, leaving every 15 minutes from the airport to Paddington. It will take you 15 minutes, a ticket into town costs 20 Euros, the train runs between 5:07 and 23:42. If you want to save money you should go by underground. The Piccadilly line runs from Heathrow into the city centre. The ticket costs 4.50 Euros but it will take you longer: The underground takes half an hour into town, but leaves every ten minutes.
Busses are even cheaper; they connect Heathrow to West London. A ticket costs 2 Euros. A taxi won’t be faster. A drive into town takes between one half hour and one hour, the prices are between 57 and 62 Euros. The healthiest form of travelling is bicycling. You can also rent a bicycle from London to the airport. Downloads for the routes below.
