You don’t walk up to the reception, the reception comes to you. Instead of waiting in line you can take a seat at the lobby. The waiter-style staff will soon arrive with a portable PC for check-in. What on the outside appears to be Victorian, will catapult you into the 21st century inside.
Today, the former station hotel enthuses its business clientele with modern design. A few pieces of the old era have remained though: mighty pillars, stucco and wide stairs remind you of times gone by, but only in the public areas. The rooms is the big surprise: you won’t find any of the fancy 19th-century design, the interior is straight and modern and smells of work: An oversize desk plus lamp by Jacobson and W-Lan are customized for business people.
But there is cosiness as well: The large beds and well-stocked mini bars alone make ambitious workaholics tune out – or turn on the flats-screen. Double room from 320 Euros per night.
