The name Canteen is for many a synonym for hairnets, big spoons, dippers, grease drops and stomach ache as well as cheap food offered by companies. Canteen, however, is a canteen 2.0. You won’t get stomach ache from the regional and seasonal specialties here. Everything that lands on your plate was once happily running around on lush pastures. Eggs are so fresh that you still hear the hens cackle and the fish has just been caught from the sea.
After such a beautiful life, pigs go to meet the butcher’s on their own accord. If you are not into stuff that once mooed or cackled you can still have a delicious dessert or treat yourself a tasty breakfast. Apart from modern English cuisine they also serve porridge here. Norman Foster created the interior: indirect lighting, wood and straight lines befitting the straight food.
