Hamburg Airport is the oldest airport in Germany, opening in 1912. It lies about 8,5km from Hamburg’s city centre. There are bus stops directly in front of the terminals, and buses depart every 15 minutes. The journey into the city takes between 25 and 30 minutes. The best way to get to the city (direction main station) is the S-Bahn S1 which departs every ten minutes. It's almost as fast as a taxi (the journey takes 25 minutes)but cheaper.
