Bent Angelo Jensen started with renting out historic suits. The concept was called “open wardrobe”, and his clients could rent another piece to show off each week. The gentlemen liked these vintage suits so much that they didn’t want to let go of them, and so Jensen started with his own collection. He doesn’t like the term “retro”, but calls it his “homage to different decades”, with the classical as the basis for the avant-garde.
Maybe that’s why his clients are such a colourful bunch: The trash king Dieter Bohlen likes his stuff, as does the Grande Dame of German top models, Claudia Schiffer, or musicians such as Michael Stipe of REM, star rapper Jan Delay or Rufus Wainwright. Jensen plays with the epochs, creates new out of old, thus setting new priorities. In the meantime he has also started a women’s collection and has opened branches in Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne and Munich. Real fashion freaks will be in paradise.
