The weekly farmers’ markets belong to Frankfurt just as the cathedral and the Römer do – they have become an important part of city culture. Clearly the nicest market in Frankfurt, with a very special atmosphere, is the Wochenmarkt in Bornheim. Even if this farmers’ market is located a little bit outside of the city centre, you’ll be rewarded for your trip with authenticity and delicacies.
Here the people from Bornheim meet, buy fresh fruit and vegetables, eat seductively smelling waffles and exchange the latest gossip with the neighbours. Do it like the locals – a little bit of strolling, a little bit of eating, a little bit of shopping. Do the latter shortly before the market closes down: Prices come down precipitously and everything is practically handed away for a pittance. How lucky the late risers are!
