The greatest popular festival in the Rhine-Main region is celebrated in fall and spring every year in Frankfurt. Originally the Dippemess was more of a market for household goods. Potters sold their goods here, particularly ceramic bowls and other pottery goods, which were called “Dippe” in Frankfurt dialect. Yet public entertainment and the performances of different artists became more and more important, and soon the festival evolved into the great party for everyone that it is today.
The festival pavilion, the Dippodrom, forms the centre, and all around you find everything that's part of every good fair: Stands, travelling hawkers, food stands and all sorts of fun rides, including chairoplanes, merry-go-rounds and bumper car rides. An event for the entire family. The fair starts and ends with imposing fireworks, which is not to be missed.
