I would like to be a Berliner
Berlin has so much to offer that it can make you dizzy. Even the view from the viewing platform at the top of the Parliament House is enough to make visitors speechless: the city manages to be narrow minded yet global at the same time, historic yet modern, hectic whilst still appearing relaxed.
And Berlin won't let itself be characterised, as every district has it very won flair. The luxurious Kurfürstendamm blindly contrasts the grimy Kreuzberg district and the historical city centre has a totally different face to that of the adjacent Tiergarten park. Whichever district you land in, the city's history is ever-present. In the former east you will find the legendary DDR traffic-light man and plattenbau apartment blocks. Come to the border of the old east-west division and you will find a representative section of the Berlin Wall, including the decommissioned Checkpoint Charlie. The fall of the wall brough innovation, entrepreneurship and most importantly, the freedom of expression. To this day artists from all around the world come here to be inspired. Even when the city is always in motion, inhabitants always find time to enjoy a currywurst even in the middle of the night – for example after an exhaustive clubbing session. And given Berlin's nightlife, you will quickly become a night-owl in this city. There's over 200 clubs here, covering just about every music genre.
