Imagine: you're on holiday in Vienna and sleep in a former tailor shop! The next morning, you have breakfast in the café three houses down the street and when you get really hungry you are allocated a table in the neighbouring restaurant. All this exists in reality: Urbanauts is the name of the new concept and takes place in Vienna.
Urbanauts is actually a hotel, although it doesn't look like one at first sight. The idea came from Theresia Kohlmayr, Christian Knapp and Jonathan Lutter who wanted to offer Viennese hotel guests a new form of living. With their innovative concept and their “street lofts” they breathe life into empty business premises and “re-animate” the whole “Grätzel” (district) through incorporating surrounding restaurant and shops. There is no service that could not be fulfilled by the local infrastructure, the so-called “fellows”, including room service. In this way travellers become real “locals”.
