Karlsplatz

There are still drugs and their consumers at the Karlsplatz, yet this is not the reason why we are sending you here. A creative, alternative scene has set up without much notice, and this needs to be discovered.

And since you are already here, you might as well look at the historic landmarks. There’s the Secession and the Otto Wagner Pavilion in finest Art Nouveau style and the baroque Karlskirche towering over the Resselpark.

In the Vienna Museum you find out why things are what they are in Vienna, every Sunday free of charge. It’s the job of the “brut” in the Künstlerhaus to provide creative input for the present, staging daring theatre projects, implementing innovative concepts and celebrating funky parties. The project space of the Kunsthalle Wien has matured from a temporary container to a permanent glass pavilion and offers room for exhibitions, performances and a hip café.
